Interscholastic athletics are a vital part of school life. The school sponsors 24 varsity sports. Some sports are more competitive that others. We encourage all students to participate in the athletic program. Stamford High School is a member of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference. The CIAC is the governing body for high school sports in the state. The body sponsors state tournament play and regulates eligibility for play within our state. Each school is placed in a division based on its student enrollment. Stamford plays in the LL division, which is the large school division. State tournaments follow regular league play and are run under
the single elimination format. Stamford High School has won over 40 state championships in various sports throughout the years. The school plays in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC). The league is made up of 19 schools. Stamford plays in the Western Division and has won over 100 division and league championships. Schedules for each sport are available in the main office or from the Athletic Director.
